Cross-docking may reduce warehouse storage, but product still passes between teams and locations. Split the lot trace at each handoff to see which step takes time.
Use the same fields at each handoff
Record lot or pallet ID, event type, time, location and responsible team. Treat inbound unloading, receipt, sorting, temporary staging and outbound loading as separate events.
Link waiting time to temperature evidence
Where a stage calls for a product-condition check, link the measurement time, method and device ID to the lot record. Calculate intervals from system timestamps; do not present planned shift duration as elapsed time.
Compare handoffs with the operation
Identify the longest wait during both busy and quiet periods. If you trial store-specific palletisation, a separate staging area or a change in team ownership, compare the same handoff records before and after. Decide product acceptance under its specification and procedure.
