CMR does not automatically apply to every carriage arrangement. Confirm the international road-carriage scope, contract, parties and any additional terms for the specific shipment.

For an incident review, assemble dispatch and delivery times, cargo condition, shipper instructions, transport equipment and route changes on one timeline. Check the current applicable Convention text with a legal specialist.

For refrigerated carriage, include vehicle and equipment identity, maintenance records, settings and alarm history, driver instructions and instructions supplied by the shipper.

Link temperature records to device ID, calibration details, sensor location and handover records. Preserve the raw file unchanged and retain correspondence with dates.

Records can help reconstruct facts; they do not alone establish carrier fault, a defense or a compensation outcome. Have applicable provisions and time limits reviewed for the specific contract.
