A deposit becomes a tracking tool only when its ledger matches container movements. Do not present a commercial security as an automatic regulatory outcome; amount, return terms and accounting follow the agreement and current rules.

Container and balance ledger

For each entry, record customer or delivery point, container ID or type, units dispatched and returned, date, handover document and contractual deposit per unit. Customer balance = previous balance + containers out - containers returned; track damaged, missing or disputed units in separate statuses.

At period end, reconcile the count against physical inventory and handover documents. Investigate where any difference arose and record corrections with reason and approval. Handle an unreturned container under the contract’s timeline and responsibilities.

This record supports both inventory control and customer reconciliation. If the deposit may affect tax, a recycling contribution or other regulation, confirm that separately with an accountant and the current competent text.
