Shipping needs for beneficial insects vary by species, life stage and shipment form. Do not apply food cold-chain settings directly to live biological material.
Match the protocol to the shipment
Confirm species/lot, life stage, packaging and shipment state in supplier instructions.
Obtain band and duration in writing
Request the permitted condition range, maximum transit duration and sensor requirements from the supplier; do not guess.
Check ventilation
Before changing packaging, verify required air exchange in the species and package protocol; do not make generic claims that sealed or open packs are suitable.
Separate coolant from the load. If plates or other coolant are used, follow supplier-approved placement and separators; check for direct contact in a trial.
Interpret sensor records
Specify sensor location, position relative to the sample and which interval the record represents according to the shipping protocol.
Record route and receipt. Link sensor position, trip duration, stops and receipt acceptance findings to the lot.
Pass on delivery instructions
Confirm opening and acclimation steps on the package or dispatch note with the recipient in advance.
Review results with the supplier. If viability or acceptance is a concern, share records and validate revised settings in a new trial.
Supplier instructions must reach the carrier in writing and remain accessible, not stay on the box alone.
