Appearance alone cannot establish the cause of a white layer on a eutectic plate. Identify the plate and document its condition before cleaning.
First observation
Record article ID, photos, location and recent washing/freezing history. Keep it separate to prevent contact with other plates.
Inspect the surface
The layer may look dry, damp, icy or powdery; none of these features alone provides a safe diagnosis. Do not scrape or apply chemicals outside maker instructions.
Manage possible leakage. Photograph shell cracks, moisture around a plug, or recurring residue. If leakage is suspected, mark and segregate the plate and request service or supplier inspection.
Limit contact with residue
Do not touch an unknown substance with bare hands. Set cleaning and protective steps from the relevant safety and care instructions.
After cleaning
Reinspect the surface and connections after an approved cleaning method; if residue persists, do not return it to use.
Keep a lot record. Keep photos, component ID, observations, assessment and release decision in one traceable record.
