If recording gaps cluster in the night band, first distinguish missing samples from measured excursions. The night shift may follow a different routine from the day shift.

What to check in the night routine

  • Are start and download tasks assigned at handover?
  • Does run duration fit the device setup and capacity?
  • While parked, is the logger within the model's stated operating range?
  • Do connection, handling or recording steps change on nights?

Locate the gap. Match the file's first and last sample times to the run form. A missing start sample, a mid-run gap and a measured high value are distinct events; do not treat one as proof of another.

Write down handover ownership

Record who started the device, linked it to which container and downloaded the file on return. This makes it possible to trace where a sample was missed.

Missing night data alone shows neither normal nor abnormal temperature.

Verify device conditions

If gaps appear during cold parking, check the model manual's operating conditions and battery status. That finding alone does not prove product temperature exceeded a device limit.

Monthly comparison

Use planned runs as the denominator and completed records as the numerator for night and day separately. Show the rates and mark runs with no downloaded file.

A short handover record. Include device status, container or run ID and download completion on the checklist. If any item is missing, note the owner and follow-up; adapt it to the local workflow.
