When people think of a food vehicle, the first question is equipment: refrigerated or insulated? The Food Hygiene Regulation looks at routine instead: what is carried with what, how the vehicle is cleaned, how temperature is held. It was published in the Official Gazette of 17 December 2011 and was drafted in parallel with the EU hygiene regulation 852/2004.

The transport rules are the seven paragraphs of Article 13: vehicles and containers are kept clean and maintained, food is adequately separated from other loads, the vehicle is cleaned between different loads and disinfected where necessary, and where necessary temperature is held and can be monitored. Unpacked liquid, granular and powdered food travels in receptacles marked For Foodstuffs Only.

How the cold is produced is left to the business: mechanical refrigeration, an insulated container with eutectic plates, or both. For reusable containers such as Isotec, the chemical and washing limits in the container's cleaning instructions belong on the cleaning sheet too; ask Aris Makina for the instructions for your model.
