A fixed weekly route is easy to schedule, but may not match daily orders and ready capacity. Before choosing flexibility, test which change reduces delays or extra trips using your own operating data.
Record daily demand and ready capacity
Log order quantity, when product is ready to dispatch, clean available containers, and driver and vehicle availability each day. Add last-minute order changes and unserved quantities to the same record.
Compare plans using measurable outcomes. For a fixed plan and a daily-adjusted plan, track stops, distance, load factor, extra trips and on-time deliveries. If product preparation or container return is not ready, do not assign work as if flexible capacity were available.
After a trial period, review delay and extra-work causes. Keep fixed days where demand is steady; add flexible days only in areas supported by the data, then measure the service result again.
