A pallet waiting on the kerb can create product-condition, supervision and access risks. Decide the waiting location and who controls the load in the delivery plan beforehand.
Choose a waiting option before delivery. Agree with the store whether goods remain on the vehicle, in a closed locked container or in a staffed receiving area. Check pedestrian access, local rules and weather in the site plan.
Make the supervision boundary clear
If one person unloads, plan where the first unit will wait and whether they must leave it unattended to return to the vehicle. Release units in a defined sequence where possible; do not leave goods in a shared area without authorization.
File handoff evidence
Record unloading and acceptance times, pallet or container ID, location and recipient. Attach a photo or signed document to the shipment record; document loss or damage promptly.
