Who carries rental risk depends on the contract and applicable terms. Review delivery, use, fault and return processes alongside the daily rate.

Clarify commercial terms

Ask about rental start and end, renewal, early return, loss charges and invoicing. Check the contract wording for insurance responsibility, permission to take equipment abroad and the process for replacing faulty items.

Repeat the condition check at both ends

On handover and return forms, record container serial or asset ID, lid and accessory condition, damage, cleaning findings and dated photos. Define normal wear and chargeable damage with examples and obtain both parties' acknowledgement.

If a dispute arises after return, use the signed form, photos and service record rather than verbal recollection. Resolve ambiguous contract terms in writing with the other party before signing.
