Seasonal demand cannot be assessed from use days alone. Compare rental offers with delivery and return obligations, and ownership with off-season storage and maintenance included.
Calculate both totals
Add transport, cleaning and damage terms to rental cost. For ownership, include equipment, financing, preparation, storage and maintenance over the same period.
Set the break-even comparison from your data
Multiply required days by the quoted period rate; use the same period's expenses for purchase. State assumptions and excluded costs.
| Usage pattern | Option to examine |
|---|---|
| Long season | Period expenses and ownership cost |
| Short peak | Rental, delivery and return expenses |
| Uncertain demand | Trial and actual use |
| Multiple seasons | Cumulative rent against purchase quote |
Calculate a mixed fleet too
Buying the base quantity and renting the seasonal difference may be an option; test it against usage and quotations.
Get contract terms in writing. Match delivery and return dates, cleaning standard, damage inspection, normal wear and responsible party in the contract.
Also ask how deposits, delays, missing parts or faults are handled.
Check model and accessory fit at delivery.
Report differences with photos and a delivery record.
Use the first season to learn
If demand is uncertain, a rental trial can provide actual use and workflow data. Do not assume it is automatically cheapest.
Renew the decision after the season
Keep total spend, use days and damage records. Request an equivalent-scope quote for the next period.
Compare prices in the same currency, period and delivery scope.
