Where and under what conditions stock will be held during a refit should be decided as early as the work schedule. A planned completion date does not remove the chance of delay.
Choose backup space from inventory data
List products and batches, quantities, labelled conditions, daily receipts and dispatches, and access needed during the work. Compare that load with another branch's usable capacity, available space in an operating cold room or verified temporary equipment.
If using temporary equipment or containers, verify capacity with the actual load and operating routine. Assign responsibility for temperature logging, alarm response, cleaning, power or cold-source preparation, and access.
Write down the fallback if the work runs long: extra capacity, transfer to another site or a dispatch hold. The site's product procedure should identify what is segregated and who decides when a limit is exceeded.
Before transferring stock into a new cabinet or room, use its own monitoring records to confirm stable operation. Include protection from renovation dust and physical access in the closed, clean storage plan.
