How to validate yeast and starter-culture shipments

Link culture form and supplier instructions to shipment records, handoffs and receiver acceptance.

Short answer

Identify culture form, strain or product code and lot, then obtain transport and acceptance conditions from the supplier's technical sheet. Record packing, sensor position, dispatch and receipt times; plan dock handoff with the receiver. A logger record alone does not prove viability or release. On deviation, the supplier and receiver quality owners decide.

Transport instructions can vary for frozen, freeze-dried or other culture forms. Match the current technical sheet to product code and lot.

Transfer supplier conditions, packaging, light or moisture sensitivity and deviation-notification instructions into the shipping plan. Record device ID, sensor position, seal and handoff times.

At receipt, review the pack and records with the receiver. Do not infer viability from appearance or a logger graph; escalate deviations to quality and document the use decision.
