A reference list becomes decision evidence when comparable use is verified. Clarify the reference customer's permission and what may be discussed before sharing contact details.

Check comparability. Ask how product model, load, route, site conditions and use case compare with yours. Distinguish units purchased from units actually in use.

Prepare short interview questions

Ask whether use continues, what maintenance and service are involved, what failures or incompatibilities occurred and how they were handled. Note date and context of responses.

Respect confidentiality limits

If a customer name or contact cannot be shared, do not pressure them. Request a consented anonymized use profile, model and service experience; note in purchasing records that independent verification was not possible.
