Who records field temperature measurements?

Short answer

Assign ownership explicitly in the product and shipment procedure: dispatch staff at loading, recipient at handover, or a qualified person named in the measurement plan. Each record should include timestamp, lot, device ID, method and measurement point. Assign calibration and device checks separately. For an excursion, segregate product and refer records to quality; field staff should not release it alone.

The procedure should name the measurement owner as the person who takes and records the reading. Tie assignments to the product and shipment workflow.

Assign measurement events

Name who measures at loading, receipt and suspected incidents, plus a backup and record location. Specify the method from product instructions and the measurement plan; do not equate a surface scan with a product reading.

The form should capture lot, timestamp, device ID, calibration status, measurement point, result and user trace. Assign device maintenance and calibration follow-up to a separate owner from field readings.

For an excursion or device failure, segregate product, preserve raw records and notify quality. File the decision, reviewer and subsequent action.
