Short answer

At download, record logger ID, trip ID, timestamp and time zone together. Preserve the raw file unchanged; add its checksum and software version, flag gaps, and keep the assessment output separate.

A device number alone does not link a file to a trip. A screenshot cannot replace raw data.

Archive the first file unchanged. Link any time conversion or export to its source file.

File connection

Name files with date, route, container and logger ID. Note gaps and clock corrections.

Open and check the backup. A measurement that cannot be found is not traceable.
