Do not select a vaccine carrier from catalogue duration alone. The vaccine, current immunisation programme, route, load and field-use pattern determine the selection criteria.
Match product and protocol requirements. Take permitted transport and storage conditions from product information, and packing, conditioning, use and end-of-day handling from the programme protocol. Do not assume one temperature range, pack arrangement or opening limit for every vaccine.
Test the actual route
With a representative load, record route time, waits, planned openings, ambient conditions, shade and handovers. Measure near the product; check whether packs touch it directly and how the carrier responds after opening. A field test does not replace manufacturer and programme instructions.
In the selection record, state model, loading layout, logger placement, temperature profile, training and who to contact for an excursion.
