An ATP certificate of compliance is issued on the strength of a report showing that the body's insulation, and the refrigeration unit if fitted, meet the ATP class. Authorised centres produce the report and TSE, as the approval body, issues the certificate.
| Vehicle | What is submitted | Inspection |
|---|---|---|
| New body built to an approved type, within 6 months of registration | Maker's ATP type test report and declaration | Not required (Art. 14) |
| Used vehicle, or a body past the 6 months | Booking at an inspection centre | Periodic inspection (Art. 12) |
| Built abroad and registered in Türkiye | Type test report, previous ATP certificate, maker's declaration | If the approval body requires it (Art. 17) |
Older vehicles that run only domestically, or to countries outside ATP, get the Perishable Foodstuffs Carriage Certificate instead: the equipment must be no more than 15 years old, inspection comes every three years, and the document is not valid for carriage to ATP countries. Since 21 February 2025, deliveries within a single city fall outside the regulation.
The inspection measures the vehicle as it stands on the day: a door seal that does not close fully, a torn inner lining or a hole drilled later and never sealed all show in the result, and a second inspection means a second fee. Deal with the seals, the inner surface and the unit service before the appointment, and keep vehicle and unit papers in one file. The certificate is issued in the owner's name and travels with the vehicle.
