Choosing a bag or rigid container does not mean ice cream travels the same way on every route. Load size, ambient conditions, delivery order and lid openings can change the result.
Run a like-for-like route trial
Test both options with the same product and comparable starting load. Take dispatch and receipt readings under the product procedure; record ambient conditions, travel time, waiting and every lid opening.
Use the product's labelled conditions as the comparison criterion. Link readings to logger data; photograph softening, shape damage or packaging issues.
Do not decide from insulation type alone. Handling, stacking, cleaning, cold-source preparation and lid discipline belong in the same route plan.
If a deviation occurs, do not treat refreezing as proof the product is suitable. Segregate the batch, preserve time-temperature data and obtain a decision from the product owner or authorised quality lead.
