The box does not refreeze ice cream; it protects product that leaves at the right temperature along the route. The ATP text (Annex 2) requires ice cream to stay at -20 °C or below at every point of the load during loading, carriage and unloading. Time in the loading area counts as part of the route.
- Prepare a clean, dry box, validated coolant and product separated in delivery order.
- Do not leave the lid open while looking for a missing item.
- In a pilot, follow the item that stays longest in the box and judge softening from a defined temperature record.
