Risks in a delivery area vary with equipment, load, floor and work method. A general checklist does not replace the site's formal risk assessment or guidance from its responsible safety professional.

Review the task step by step

Observe receiving, lifting, pushing, vehicle restraint, unloading and stacking on site. Record narrow passages, slopes, wet floors and blocked sightlines with their location and time. Ask workers for near-miss examples.

Compare containers, castors, handles and restraint points with manufacturer instructions, load limits and vehicle-securing procedures. If suitability is unclear, take the equipment out of use and request assessment by the authorized safety or maintenance lead.

Verify the corrective action. Assign an owner, action and due date to each hazard. Then observe the same task and record whether the control was applied; update the assessment after a new vehicle, load or layout. Do not treat an equipment change alone as proof of safe work.
