A wrong label can pair the right product with the wrong container or transport instruction. Set one pre-loading check that matches the physical container ID to the order and lot record.
Separate permanent and temporary information
Keep the container number on a washable body surface; the dispatch label should show lot, product and required instruction, with no label left from a previous trip. If lids move between bodies, do not attach identity to the lid.
Check the match at loading
Have the operator compare the listed container number with the body number and order line. Mark the check at loading and record time, lot and checker.
Hold the lot when records disagree
If the label is wrong or unreadable, segregate product and container; refer temperature, time and shipment conditions to the quality owner when procedure requires. Let the authorized process decide relabelling or product release.
