FEFO ships the eligible batch with the earliest expiry date; FIFO ships whatever entered the store first. For cold chain products where remaining life matters, FEFO is the choice, because arrival order does not always follow date order.

FEFO needs batch-level traceability. If date and lot cannot be read on the label, the barcode and the rack location, the rule cannot run, and if new stock goes to the front the old batch stays behind. Flow racking and one-way layouts make the rule physical, and a batch from a delivery that ran warm moves up the queue even with the same printed date.
