To compare test results, align model, ambient profile, load amount and starting condition, coolant arrangement, sensor positions and endpoint temperature. Check the scope of ASTM D3103 and ISTA thermal methods; a field trial does not replace laboratory qualification testing.

The answer to “how many hours does it hold cold?” has meaning only with its test conditions. For catalogue or quotation data, look for model code, ambient temperature or profile, load, coolant model and quantity, temperature endpoint and sensor positions.

ASTM D3103 and ISTA 7D/7E methods have different scopes. Confirm the applicable edition and whether it fits your product with the test laboratory or supplier. A method named in a brochure does not guarantee the same result for every load and route.

For an operational field trial, use the same model and packout. With a safe test load, log product-level, internal-box and ambient temperatures; record loading, openings and delivery times. Interpret results only for the tested profile and product acceptance limit.
