A lid has moving parts and a gasket interface, but it cannot be assumed to be the weakest performance point in every container. Results depend on model and use.
First look for dirt, cuts, compression or displacement along the gasket, lid warping and latch closure issues. Follow the maker's instructions for cleaning and adjustment.
If using a paper-strip check, repeat it at the same points with the same strip. This is only a rough screen, not a substitute for the model's seal test.
Add lid opening counts or times, load, starting conditions and measurement points to the dispatch record. Review temperature changes alongside openings.
Use the maker's test method or a controlled comparison to distinguish lid, wall and cooling-source effects.
Decide on damaged parts, repair and return to use under model instructions and site procedure. Record findings with date, container ID and action.
