Start the first equipment decision with delivery records, not a brochure. Turn product group, load size, route, current packaging and recurring problems into a short needs list.

Ask suppliers to quote against the same product dimensions, capacity, vehicle fit and cleaning method. List included accessories, maintenance terms, spare parts and exclusions alongside purchase price.

Where possible, run a field pilot. Record loading time, container fit, returns or damage, cleaning and operator notes on the same form for each trip.

Compare pilot results with the current method on the same product and route. Do not present a difference from one trial as guaranteed performance or savings.

Decide from measured use needs and actual quotations. Reassess capacity if volume changes; avoid buying excess equipment on an unsupported growth assumption.
