When dry-ice supply is interrupted, do not switch automatically to another coolant. Decide using product requirements, shipment conditions and validated stock on hand.

List affected shipments

Use one table for shipment, product or specimen, target temperature range, destination window, carrier and dry-ice requirement. Assign who prioritizes orders and who can approve a hold.

Use PCM plates or another coolant in stock only if the product owner and packing instructions approve it for that product. Find records from a previously tested configuration with the same product, load and route.

Get two confirmations before dispatch

Confirm target range and coolant compatibility with the product owner, and acceptance and packaging terms with the carrier. Update any dry-ice declaration or special packing requirement for the new configuration.

If no trial or applicable validation record exists, hold or reschedule the shipment. Tell the recipient about the delay and revised estimated arrival; do not assume product safety or acceptance.

Record interruption time, supplier response, available stock, decision, approvers and shipment outcome. Afterwards, use the record to review backup suppliers and alternative pack plans.
