Product or route information alone cannot show that dry ice and PCM plates will work together in one container. Suitability depends on product temperature range, plate properties and packaging configuration.

Check compatibility first

Get the permitted transport range from the product owner and the approved layout from the packaging maker. Compare the plate's stated phase-change temperature with the product range; an unsuitable plate adds weight and may not protect the product.

Confirm the carrier's current acceptance, declaration, marking and ventilation instructions for dry ice. Do not obstruct gas release from the container. Share handling procedures with loading and unloading staff.

Separate direct product contact

Position product, PCM plates and dry ice according to a maker-approved loading diagram. Separators and restraints must stay in place as the load moves; the lid must close and required vents must remain clear.

Test with a full load. Place a logger near the product and retain start, route and arrival data. Reassess if product, load size, plate or container changes.

Carrier acceptance does not prove product temperature suitability. Document both separately.
