A single reading near a limit does not decide acceptance or rejection independently of the measurement method. First define which temperature was measured and how uncertainty enters the decision.
Fix the measurement definition
State whether the reading is product core, surface or air; record sample location, instrument, equilibration and reading method.
Add uncertainty evidence. Keep calibration-certificate and instrument-document uncertainty information with resolution and measurement conditions.
Agree the decision rule in advance. State the approach for near-limit readings and any repeat-measurement path in the contract or quality procedure. Do not assume a universal guard band.
Preserve evidence in a dispute. Record raw readings, time, device ID, location and ambient conditions. If no rule is defined, hold the product for an authorized quality decision.
