What information to provide when requesting an SDS for a plate

Record article, supplier and document revision; assess an SDS separately from operating instructions.

Short answer

Include the plate article, label photo, supplier and requested document language; add lot details if available. Compare the returned SDS product description and scope, and record its revision date. If no SDS is supplied, do not treat operating instructions as equivalent; refer the document need and interim assessment to the relevant quality or safety lead.

Linking a document request to the product on site helps prevent a reply for the wrong article. SDS requirements and acceptance must be checked for the product, use and applicable rules.

Include product code, label photo, supplier, known lot details and requested language. State the reason: inventory, customer file or spill preparation.

Compare the returned document's product name, scope and revision with the purchase record. A product-family name alone is not a sufficient match.

File the SDS and operating instructions as documents with different purposes. For example, the US OSHA HazCom format places hazards in section 2, spill response in 6, handling and storage in 7, exposure controls in 8, and transport information in 14. This US format is not Turkish law.
