If ready plate count or type differs from the dispatch order, route the discrepancy through an authorized decision process.
Verify the discrepancy first
Check ordered count, ready count, plate ID and type together.
Authority chain
The picker records and reports the gap to dispatch; they do not change the plan alone.
Name the decision owner and backup in the shift instruction in advance.
Review the available decisions
| Option | Verify first |
|---|---|
| Hold | Readiness and revised departure time |
| Route change | Authority, stops and load plan |
| Alternate plate | Model/SOP fit and approval |
When count or type changes, recheck the load plan and work instruction.
Do not assume an alternate is suitable; product model and shipment conditions govern.
Record decision owner, reason, approval time and action to take.
Tell the driver the approved count, type and route change before departure.
Show ordered and actual dispatched counts in separate fields on the trip form.
Use preparation and return records to investigate repeat shortfalls at the next shift.
