The same container is two different jobs on two different castors; the difference shows at the threshold, on the ramp and in night-time noise. The choice starts with the load: the capacity needed per castor is T = (E + Z) / n × S, where E is the empty container weight, Z the maximum load, n the number of supporting castors and S a safety factor.

Example: 60 kg empty, 300 kg load, three of four castors carrying and S of 1.5 give T = 360 / 3 × 1.5 = 180 kg. In Blickle's table S is 1.0-1.5 for manual use indoors with obstacles under 5 percent of the wheel diameter, and 1.5-2.2 outdoors with higher obstacles.

Five percent is 6 mm on a 125 mm wheel and 8 mm on a 160 mm wheel; a higher obstacle raises the factor, and a larger diameter also lowers rolling resistance. Rubber treads protect the floor but roll harder, polyurethane treads do not mark; the tread should be softer than the floor.

GEBHARDT can fit roll containers with castors in different materials and diameters, and quiet and cold-area castors are possible. Send Aris Makina the route, floor and load, and we make the choice with you.
