If the wait between leaving cold storage and the vehicle door closing is not measured, you cannot tell whether an excursion began during this interval. Collect the same timestamps for every order.

Record when the product or lot leaves cold storage, when its container or pack is closed, and when it is loaded. If the staging area has a sensor, add its temperature data to the same timeline. Include order number, product class and pack type so durations are comparable.

Then compare durations by product and pack type. If delays cluster by shift, staging point or order wave, review picking sequence and vehicle readiness. Pick sensitive products last only when the approved workflow supports it.

Do not take a universal number of minutes as the upper limit. Use product information, packaging performance and the site’s approved process; start a quality review when its limit is exceeded.
