Product, container and eutectic plates require different preparation. Bring the product to its transport condition, condition the container for its operating arrangement, and prepare the plates under their model-specific conditions. Complete all three checks before deciding to load.

Why does thermal mass matter?

For the same temperature difference, cooling more product requires more heat removal; specific heat and any phase change also matter. Cargo that has not reached its transport temperature adds a cooling demand on top of heat entering during the journey. Neither weight nor starting temperature alone gives the required plate count.

Prepare the product at the depot. In passive transport, prepared eutectic plates absorb heat; this capacity is planned to maintain cargo already at the appropriate temperature. Keep product temperature distinct from plate or air temperature. For active transport, the Thermo King Precedent manual, pp. 125-126 also describes preconditioned cargo and load-temperature checks; its unit-specific settings do not transfer to a passive container.

Keep preparation records separate

PreparationWhat to checkRecord
ProductLot meets its written transport temperatureMethod, point, instrument and time
ContainerStarting condition, cleanliness, door/seal and preparation under its instructionsContainer/model ID and preparation check
Eutectic plateCorrect item, quantity, preparation conditions and full solidificationPreparation batch and readiness acceptance

GEBHARDT's eutectic-plate document treats preparation temperature, air gaps and complete freezing separately. A freezer display alone does not establish readiness at the plate's centre. Use the plate-readiness guide to structure the applicable check.

Account for the container and loading arrangement

A container, its fittings and packaging left in warm surroundings can contribute to the starting heat load. Lid openings, ambient conditions and waiting also belong in the transport conditions. Check preparation against the arrangement's instructions and measurement records. Preserve air channels and evaporator openings in an active system, and the specified plate and cargo placement in a passive system.

Finish preparation before loading

If the product is outside its limits, container preparation is incomplete or plates fail their readiness criterion, complete the missing step and check again. Lowering a setting or adding plates is not a verified substitute for preparation. At dispatch handover, provide the product reading, container ID and plate preparation batch together.

Collect product quantity, required conditions, route and preparation capacity in the Aris Makina Isotec TBX needs form. It gathers selection inputs to assess alongside plate quantity and operating conditions.
