A longer distance alone does not justify switching a product from chilled to frozen handling. Product requirements, recipient needs and a validated process change must be reviewed together.
Record actual transit time as preparation, dock wait, road, transfer and final delivery. For the same product and lot, add instrument, sensor location and route events.
Have quality verify that the selected condition matches product instructions and label. A change may affect quality, texture, packaging and recipient acceptance; thawing and subsequent storage also need a plan.
First assess measured delay against route order, appointments, transfers or delivery-window changes. After a change, trial under comparable load and route conditions.
Do not change the handling regime after dispatch. If a deviation occurs, segregate the product and refer logger data and lot history to the quality owner under the applicable procedure.
