Large thermoboxes and isothermal cold-chain containers

GEBHARDT Isotec TBX offers large thermobox models from 410 to 1500 litres, on castors or pallet bases, for fresh and frozen food distribution. The insulated body works with route-specific eutectic plates; compare dimensions and datasheets on the product pages.

This product family appears under several search terms: large thermobox, isothermal container, cold-chain transport box and insulated container. Here they describe a professional passive cold-chain container in which an insulated body works with pre-frozen eutectic plates. No refrigeration unit runs on the vehicle; the cold travels beside the goods.

The backbone of the range is the GEBHARDT Isotec TBX: nine sizes from 410 to 1500 litres, on castors in the smaller sizes and on a pallet base in the larger ones. TBX Seafood with an inner tray and drain valve for fish, plate freezing racks for the depot and in-container shelf systems belong to the same programme. This large thermobox range is a different use and volume class from small EPP/GN food-delivery boxes.

GEBHARDT describes Isotec TBX as ATP and HACCP certified for food logistics. Send us the route, the goods and the target temperature, and we work out the model and plate configuration together.

Frequently asked questions

Which Isotec product should we consider for a large thermobox?
For general distribution, assess TBX models from 410 to 1500 litres; for iced seafood, assess TBX Seafood with its inner tray and drain valve. Select by product temperature, route time, door openings, vehicle access and handling method, rather than litres alone. TBX model, route and TCO planner
What does isothermal container mean, and does it differ from insulated?
In everyday use both describe the same product: a transport container with an insulated body. Isothermal is the regulatory class name for insulated equipment; insulated is the commercial description. The isotherm, isothermal and insulated distinction
Where do these containers get their cold from?
No refrigeration unit runs on the container. Pre-frozen eutectic plates draw heat as they melt while the insulated body slows the heat coming in; the vehicle stays standard. Active cooling versus the passive container
How long does it hold the cold?
The plate regime, pre-cooling, fill level, ambient temperature and lid movements set the duration together. GEBHARDT states that a properly configured system can hold the cold chain for up to 24 hours. The holding-time and pre-cooling guide
Which sizes exist, and will one fit through the vehicle door?
Isotec TBX comes in nine standard sizes, 410-1500 litres, on castors or a pallet base. External dimensions and the door check are tabled on the size page. Isotec TBX sizes and models
We are looking for an ATP-certified isothermal container; does this range qualify?
It does: GEBHARDT gives that description for Isotec TBX within food logistics. Ask Aris Makina for the current certificate and its scope; we obtain it from GEBHARDT and pass it on. Isotec documents and temperature records
What sets the price?
Four items set the price: size, base type, plate regime and quantity. The line-by-line breakdown lives in the linked article. What sets the price of an insulated container
