Do not calculate depot space from container dimensions alone. Each equipment waiting stage and daily movement path belongs on the plan.
Assign separate zones for empty containers, full dispatch-ready units, washed or drying units, ready plates, spent returning plates and nonconforming equipment. Measure each zone's actual boundary.
Record the real container footprint and rack arrangement. Verify stacking or rack compatibility from maker instructions; do not assume containers may be stacked.
Add walking and handling aisles, door swing, forklift or pallet-truck turns, and power or refrigeration access to the sketch. Timestamp queues, blocked paths and repeat moves during busy shifts.
Adjust the layout using peak inventory and flow data from multiple days. Have the depot and safety or facilities owner approve access; repeat the measurement when operations change.
