A phrase such as “environmentally friendly packaging” is not enough to compare offers consistently. State what data is required and how it will be checked.
Define the measure
Specify whether you need material type, package weight or reuse count. Add a denominator and period, such as per shipment or product group.
Set the evidence format. State which document you need from the supplier, in what file format and at what delivery stage. Do not treat a product claim as a test result or certificate; define the evidence scope.
Set up verification
Name who reviews records and what explanation is requested for inconsistencies. Make the link between claim and measurement repeatable.
Justify any threshold
If you set a minimum or maximum, base it on regulation, technical need or a baseline measurement. An unsupported limit can make supplier comparison less fair.
Specify only data you will collect and review; compare results in the same period and unit.
