An empty container, eutectic plates, a platform and pallets are separate items on the scale next to the load. As the product you can carry shrinks, taking the same load may mean moving to a vehicle whose registered maximum weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes, and the driver then falls under Article 98/A of the Road Traffic Regulation:

These three limits fill 20 hours 45 minutes of the day, leaving 3 hours 15 minutes for loading, unloading and waiting. The price of a breach is in Article 49 of Law No. 2918 (as rewritten by Law No. 7574, in force since 12 Feb 2026): exceeding continuous driving by up to 1 hour is 1,000 TL, breaching daily rest is 3,000 TL, and both double when the driver is also the operator. In a refrigerated vehicle the unit keeps running during breaks (WHO TRS 992, Annex 5, Supplement 12, clause 2.5).
