Crate price alone cannot show whether a small order is costly to deliver. Measure the round's total expense alongside completed delivery volume.

Record data for each stop

Log address, kilometres, arrival and departure time, crates delivered, reason for waiting and acceptance result. Track product temperature records and time with the container open too.

For the same period, total vehicle rental or allocated use, driver time, fuel, loading and cleaning. Cost per completed delivery = total route cost / completed deliveries. For cost per crate, use crates delivered as the denominator.

If testing nearby-stop consolidation, keep the same delivery window and product conditions. Compare kilometres, time, crates, waiting and temperature records before and after; use actual expenses rather than projected savings.

The result applies to the measured route and period. Recalculate when order size or customer hours change.
