When a run closes, compare plates issued at dispatch with those received on return under the same run ID.
Fix the outbound count
After vehicle and container loading, reconcile the run sheet's container/plate breakdown with the physical count.
Keep different plate types or models on separate lines using the labels in the site's records.
Use the same details on return
Count returned plates against the same run ID, container ID and plate type. Record the designated collection point for used plates.
If 16 leave and 15 return, the difference is 1; that alone does not show why. Record the last known location and count time.
Reconcile a discrepancy. Recount without mixing plate types, then compare loading, returns and collection-area movements by run ID.
If unresolved, mark an open exception, hold the plates in the SOP-designated area and alert the shift lead.
Document closure
Add the correction, recovered plate, missing information or unresolved outcome with date/time and supporting movement record.
Review recurring differences by run; a pattern can guide investigation but does not alone prove loss or a capacity shortfall.
Take role and approval steps from the site procedure; do not assume two signatures are required everywhere.
