An EPP box and a large container may serve different load, handling and route needs. Suitability cannot be inferred from nominal litres or container size alone.
Define the product and route task
Record product packaging, lot quantity, stops, vehicle access and who carries goods at the delivery point. GEBHARDT lists one 46 L EPP Thermobox example at 600 × 400 × 320 mm externally, with an interior measuring 538 × 338 × 257 mm; an optional plate collar adds 85 mm height. Verify usable space in each model after fittings are installed.
Run a thermal trial with product-appropriate loading on the same route and representative conditions. Place the sensor near the product and record profile, lid openings and delivery; do not transfer one model's result to another.
Include the handoff in system cost
If transferring from container to box, measure staff, handling time, open-lid duration and cleaning step. Check product condition, acceptance criteria and equipment records in the trial. Do not decide from untested plate compatibility or an assumed hold time.
