What to check when collecting chilled goods from a supplier

Match product, packaging and records to the order before loading, and confirm custody responsibility.

Short answer

Confirm product and lot lists at booking. At loading, check labels, packaging, any required measurement and logger ID, then record dispatch time. Log vehicle and driver; segregate missing, damaged or undocumented goods and agree a resolution with the supplier.

At supplier collection, responsibility should be clear before goods enter the vehicle. Match order lines to product and lot details.

At loading, inspect labels, case integrity and shipping documents. If procedure calls for a measurement, record instrument ID, time and result.

Log loaded quantity, vehicle and driver, seal condition and custody time in a signed record. Segregate discrepancies and notify the supplier's authorized contact.
